voyage
this ost was heavily inspired by albums "vanisher, horizon scraper" by quadeca, "frailty" by jane remover, "nurture" by porter robinson and the undertale/deltarune soundtracks
as for the game concept itself, it was inspired by undertale/deltarune and ultrakill
GAMEPLAY:
i imagine voyage as an fps (inspired?) game that has parry and combo mechanics ( y'know LIKE IN ULTRAKILL AND ULTRAKILL ONLY HAS PARRYING AND COMBOS), and throughout the game, you discover or obtain certain scrolls and other weapons like staffs and books. scrolls are basically your weapons, and with multiple scrolls you can cast attacks and perform sick combos n stuff
STORY:
A little town:
It starts with 2 dogs (the one on the left is Kit and the one on the right is Melvin) thinking about what to do for the last week of summer; their town recently discovered that they cast spells from old scrolls that haven't been touched in decades, and no one knows why they can only use them now. So, they thought about borrowing these scrolls and trying them out throughout the week, but obviously, random townspeople can't just borrow these scrolls as these were used for battle, not for playing. Weirdly, Kit's family has some scrolls in their house that they keep as souvenirs, or maybe as a heirloom? He's not too sure but he knows that these are real scrolls because of family members saying so. Kit takes 2 scrolls that seem like it's purpose is for attacking and gives one to Melvin. In the afternoon, they snuck outside of their town into the forest with the scrolls and try to cast some spells.
Let's make this one count:
The scrolls were real! They also discovered what kind of spells they are using, Melvin's spell shoots out water and Kit's spell shoots out lightning, and these two elements enhance each other, and can be used effectively in battle. But, it seems that someone or something saw them use these spells. This someone is a forgotten wizard called Cluster. Apparently, the reason why spells can only be casted now is because Cluster deactivated a curse that prevents spells to be casted that affects all land. They did this as a last resort because a secret group of evil wizards reigning the ocean, called CEPONE, is planning to "unleash chaos" upon Earth and, they couldn't fight them by themselves, but they luckily stumbled upon Kit and Melvin who happened to be messing around with magic. Cluster offered to teach them how to properly cast spells. This part of the game is like the tutorial and teaches you the basic attacks and combos you can do and how you can parry.
CLUSTER:
Cluster is the first boss of the game. Their boss fight requires you to take in everything they've taught you and put you to the test to show if you're good enough to progress the game. After this, Cluster will give you two weapons, a staff and a book of spells. Kit gets the staff and Melvin gets the book of spells, or, a grimoire. Cluster also gives them some clothes that act as armor. Cluster will now accompany and guide Kit and Melvin to the ocean.
Venturing on:
This song is what would play during their journey to the ocean. The calm part of the song would play when there's no enemies and the second part would play when there are enemies or a boss enemy. Kit and Melvin advance and get better and better at performing spells and attacking. They also collect scrolls along the way and can perform spells using the equipment Cluster gave them.
Cluster directed them to go into a nearby cave to grab something that will help them in their battle against CEPONE, a boat. This isn't just a normal boat though, this is a boat that can be guided with magic, therefore it an be ridden on water without a sail and can maintain balance which makes it perfect for combat on water.
ROUGH WATERS:
This is the music that will play while fighting CEPONE. The first half of the song is the first phase and the second half is the second phase of the boss fight. This takes place in the afternoon at the time when the sun starts to set, matching the one in the picture theme. The three mages will have to use everything they have learned on their journey to stop CEPONE from causing havoc across the lands.
VOYAGE:
This song would play in the final part of CEPONE'S fight and when the two go back to their town and says goodbye to Cluster.
